There has been significant investment in electric vehicle production at the plant, and the industry is fully committed to that future.
That’s why I’m pleased the Government has taken a more pragmatic approach to the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate, slowing the pace at which manufacturers are required to increase electric vehicle sales.
Getting the transition right means doing the right thing for the environment while also protecting skilled British manufacturing jobs. I believe this more realistic approach strikes that balance.
