I welcome the Leasehold and Commonhold Reform Bill, an issue I have campaigned on for years and one that affects millions of homeowners, including many of my constituents.
Capping ground rents, creating a clear route to peppercorn rents and commonhold — where homeowners own their flats outright and manage their buildings together — and ending forfeiture show that time is finally being called on an unfair and exploitative property system.
There is more detail to work through with leaseholder groups and campaigners, but this is a strong and welcome starting point.
