So-called Blue Monday may get the label, but mental health matters all year round.
Recently, I hosted a 4.5km Walk & Talk around Ellesmere Port’s Whitby Park, focused on improving men and boys’ mental and physical health by bringing residents, veterans and local groups together.
The 4.5km distance reflected the 4.5-year life expectancy gap between men and women in the UK, often linked to preventable illness, late engagement with services and poor mental health.
The walk followed the launch of the UK’s first Men’s Health Strategy on International Men’s Day in November.
Sometimes, a walk and a conversation really can make all the difference.
