I am continuing to press local NHS managers over the ongoing closure of Eastham Walk-In Centre, after a “temporary” four-week shutdown has now been extended with no clear end date.
When I raised this in Parliament, the Health Secretary Wes Streeting reassured me the closure should remain strictly temporary. That must now be honoured. Without a clear timetable for reopening, there is a real risk this drifts into permanent closure by default.
I have written to Janelle Holmes, chief executive of Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, demanding clear answers on why the centre remains closed and when services will be restored. Local residents rely on this service.
I will continue to pursue this until Eastham Walk-In Centre reopens.
