I strongly oppose the continued loss of local bank branches in the constituency — including the latest announcement that the Halifax branch at Marina Walk will close in June.
While online banking works for many, a significant number of residents still rely on face-to-face services — particularly older people, small businesses and those who are digitally excluded. We cannot allow the steady hollowing-out of our high street to continue.
Cllr Karen Shore (Central & Grange) and I will be writing to Halifax to request an urgent meeting and to seek firm assurances about its parent company’s long-term commitment to banking services in Ellesmere Port.
