John Prescott visits Ellesmere Port to lend support to Labour Campaign

John_Prescott_Visit.JPGFormer Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has today visited Ellesmere Port in support of the campaign for local candidate Justin Madders to become the town's next MP.

Lord Prescott has a long-held connection to Ellesmere Port, after being educated at the Grange school, where the West Cheshire College Campus is now located. In 2011 he attended the launch of the 150-seater John Prescott Theatre at the College and he continues to visit the area regularly to visit friends and family.

After meeting with Labour members and supporters at the Campaign Office on Whitby Road to discuss Labour's General Election Manifesto, Lord Prescott joined Justin Madders and his team out on the doorstep to meet local residents.

Commenting at the event, Justin Madders said:

"It's fantastic to welcome Lord Prescott to the constituency and his visit has given a real boost to our campaign. He has never forgotten his roots in the Town and he is always greeted fondly by local residents when he returns."

Lord Prescott added:

"It's always a pleasure to be back here in Ellesmere Port, where I went to school. I'm really pleased to be able to help Justin in his campaign to be the next MP for Ellesmere Port & Neston. He grew up in the constituency and it's clear from speaking to residents how much he has already achieved locally. I know that he'll do a fantastic job for people in this area and help us to deliver the Labour Government that they need."
